Cookie & Local Storage Policy
At iExploreYou, we respect your digital autonomy. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, marketing pixels, social media beacons, or cross-site fingerprinting tools. Below is an itemized breakdown of every technical cookie and local storage key used to provide this service.
Under the EU ePrivacy Directive (Directive 2002/58/EC as amended), the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and the Indian DPDP Act 2023, strictly essential technical cookies necessary to deliver requested functionality do not require intrusive consent pop-ups. We keep your experience quiet and banner-free by simply refusing to deploy tracking cookies.
1. Strictly Essential First-Party Cookies
These cookies are set directly by our server and are protected by the HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, and Secure flags to prevent cross-site scripting (XSS) and cross-site forgery:
iey_gc_<token>Strictly Essential / AuthPurpose: Stores a cryptographic creator session token when you create a “How Well Do You Know Me?” game. It grants you exclusive rights to view live guesses and revoke the game without requiring account registration.
Lifespan: 30 days from creation, or immediately removed on game revocation.
iey_gg_<token>Strictly Essential / StatePurpose: Sets a confirmation marker on the guesser’s browser upon completing a game guess, allowing the player to revisit their calculated match score.
Lifespan: 30 days or browser session.
2. Browser Local Storage (Client-Side Only)
Local storage data resides strictly on your own device’s disk and is never automatically sent across the network in HTTP request headers:
iexploreyou_recent_gamesRetains a list of game tokens you recently visited so you can access your score history from the navigation bar without entering a password.
iexploreyou_daily_historyTracks which calendar days you completed the Daily Reflective Question so your local calendar displays your streak.
iexploreyou_self_assessment_cacheSafeguards your in-progress answers during the 20-question self-discovery assessment so accidental refreshes or browser reloads do not cause data loss.
3. How to Clear Storage & Cookies
You hold 100% control over local storage and cookies:
- One-Click Platform Erasure: Navigate to our Self-Serve Data Deletion Page to wipe local browser keys instantly.
- Browser Native Controls: You can clear all site data at any time via your browser settings:
- Google Chrome / Brave: Settings → Privacy & Security → Delete browsing data.
- Apple Safari: Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data → Remove All.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data.
